By now we all know the importance of having a catch can; we've run several stories on them lately, including a comparison of which catch cans are the most effective at removing oil mist from your vehicle's intake system. Which is why I've decided to install a catch can kit onto my own Toyota HiLux. The catch cans hold 4oz until liquid shows on the oil sight (drain now). 6oz is maximum capacity (half way on the sight), and at 8oz the can is completely full (sight is full) and will be bypass the collected oil. Some fill fast, some slow, but it is extremely important to not let the can overfill and it is up to the owner to be in charge of this. The whole idea behind the catch can is to catch the vapour, remove the oil and return cleaner vapour into the TIP (when venting back to TIP), or vent to atmosphere for an even cleaner system.
