In general it is important to have a detailed understanding of the respective phase diagram from which a specific material needs to be processed. More specifically, the processing of AlMgB B14 B requires a fundamental understanding of the Al-Mg-B phase diagram. Up to 70 wt% of zinc can dissolve in aluminium, followed by magnesium (17.4 wt%), copper (5.7 wt%) and silicon (1.65 wt%). We shall see that the addition of these elements can radically alter the properties of pure aluminium.
