On a SBC, the thermostat is located on the outlet. On an LS1, the thermostat is located on the water pump inlet. Thats why GM calls it the water pump inlet. My setup differs with yours, Centerline, in that I will be using a heater. I may be able to use the top connection on the water pump for a bypass, (as long as the flow is into the pump), but will need to use the other water pump side connection for both the heater hose return and the expansion tank line. The water jacket is a collection of passages within the block and head.
